In teaching, he appeared as a panelist at a recent CELT seminar on student engagement. Erin Wilgenbusch

Erin Wilgenbusch notes that PRSSA is again having an active semester, working hard to provide quality pre-professional activities for its membership. Here are events that occurred or are scheduled:

  • Feb. 26-28 - Agency Tours in Kansas City. Twenty-two PRSSA students are visitng: Fleishman-Hillard, Garmin and Event Pros to learn about agency p.r, corporate p.r. and event management.

  • April 4-5 - PRSSA Film Festival. As a fundraiser, PRSSA is sponsoring a film festival and workshop. We have a script writer from LA coming to give a workshop on Saturday, April 4 and we'll watch the student films on Sunday, April 5. On March 29, groups of students who are interested in creating a 12-minute film will be given their criteria and then they'll have one week to create the film and submit it for the film festival. This will be a campus-wide event.

  • April 8 - PRSSA is putting together a communications career fair that will feature area employers who are looking for young communications interns and graduates. This event will be held at the MU.

Erin also notes that PRSSA has just "hired" (for no pay) a director for the student-run p.r. firm the chapter hopes to get off the ground next year. GSJC junior, Jordan Lampe, will work closely with Erin and our professional advisor, Jill Spiekerman-Carrothers, APR, on getting the firm organized and running.

Finally, the award-winning student organization held small fundraisers and had Jamie Pollard as a guest speaker for one of its meetings.
