Radio stations in particular seem to like the finding that media consumption is more a matter of new media being layered on top of old media than old media dying off. I've done interviews with radio stations in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Ames. TeachingThe students in the Advertising Principles class have been following the adventures of a Greenlee intern in Hollywood. Kadie Gibson has been reporting back via video conference and audio conference about her internship in the product placement industry. Her latest adventure was meeting Ellen DeGeneres. The project is being supported by a Miller Faculty grant. In the Media Planning class, social media expert and Iowa State alum Hillary Brown stopped by for a guest lecture on the newest of new media. ServiceJay has submitted reviews to the Journal of Advertising and the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media. Additionally, he co-authored with Sherri Broyles (North Texas) an article in the AEJMC advertising newsletter that was a recap of the plenary session, "All I needed to know about Millennials I learned in Chicago." The article covers research from a Chicago-based advertising agency and the observations of Missouri's Cynthia Frisby on how to deal with the newest (who sometime think they're the greatest) generation.
