Graduate students honored for research, teaching

Three Greenlee School graduate students are recipients of this year's Iowa State University excellence awards.

Fernando Anton and Rut Rey will receive research excellence awards honoring research accomplishments judged among the top 10 percent in overall quality.

The Office of the Associate Provost for Academic Programs and the Professional Student Senate help support these awards.

Anton was cited for his work, "Cultivating fear: The effects of TV news about terrorism on public fear." Rey was honored for her thesis "Live vs. packaged TV news coverage and people's understanding of the Iraq war."

Jason Boucher will receive a teaching excellence award that honors the top 10 percent of graduate students for their achievements in teaching. He is the Advrt 435 instructor this semester, advising the American Advertising Federation campaign team.

Excellence award recipients will be distinguished in the May 6 graduation ceremonies.
