Wife of former journalism
professor dies
Fran Yarbrough, wife of long-time
Iowa State journalism professor Paul Yarbrough, died Feb.
10 of complications
of lupus at their home in Ithaca, N.Y.
Paul was a professor and director of the graduate program
of what was then known as the Department of Journalism and
Mass
Communication from 1970 to 1983. He left Iowa State to become
director of the graduate program of Cornell University's
Department of Communication.
Fran and Paul were originally from Georgia before moving to
Ames. They raised two sons, Jim and Tom, in Ames, and for part
of their 13 years here, Fran ran a tailor shop near North Grand
Mall.
