Wife of former journalism professor dies

Fran Yarbrough, wife of long-time Iowa State journalism professor Paul Yarbrough, died Feb. 10 of complications of lupus at their home in Ithaca, N.Y.

Paul was a professor and director of the graduate program of what was then known as the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication from 1970 to 1983. He left Iowa State to become director of the graduate program of Cornell University's Department of Communication.

Fran and Paul were originally from Georgia before moving to Ames. They raised two sons, Jim and Tom, in Ames, and for part of their 13 years here, Fran ran a tailor shop near North Grand Mall.

Paul can be reached at 392 Coddington Road, Ithaca, N.Y., 14850.
