Instructor and students make feature film for under $7000, win awardDan Mundt, instructor at the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, spent a summer working with students to produce a full-length feature film on a very limited budget. The result is "Escape Velocity" - "The very best $7000 movie you will ever see," says Dan Mundt about his 21 month labor of love. The movie itself is about a female Air Force pilot near the end of World War II who gets caught up in intrigue and suspicion surrounding the war. Mundt has a passion for filmmaking-- a passion shared by many of the students who gravitate towards his classes. He proposed the project idea to them and most considered it a goal worth pursuing. For Mundt, the most rewarding aspects of working on a project like this are working with students and all of their creative energy, and ultimately producing something that can be put up on the big screen for an audience to enjoy. "To me, that's where the real electricity came in. Just seeing it with a big group of people and seeing how they react to the things that we've done."
