National speakers highlight PR Week By Katie Drake The Iowa State chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is celebrating Public Relations Week, Oct. 17-22 with a full slate of national-level public relations practitioners. PR Week kicks off Friday with the homecoming parade. The PRSSA chapter will have a booth and sell caramel apples. Members of PRSSA will also help as tour guides, hosts and chauffeurs at the Greenlee School Alumni Tailgate on Saturday after the football game. Four speakers from a variety of fields will talk about different career choices in public relations. All events are free and open to students, faculty and staff of Iowa State and surrounding schools. All speakers will be in 2432 Food Science. Special invitations have been extended to the Engineering, Exercise-Sport Science and Political Science departments. Deputy Information Officer for NASA Langley Research Center Keith Henry will be speaking on crisis communication in the recent Columbia tragedy at 7 p.m. on Monday. A PR Week reception will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Hall Seminar Room 172 before Henrys speech. Geoff Goldman, media relations manager for Fox Sports Net Midwest, and Tom Kroeschell, communications manager for the ISU Athletic Department, will be speaking on sports promotion at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Monica Fischer, press secretary for Governor Vilsack, will share her experience in the political arena at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
