July Internship Spotlight

Name: Amanda Krumm

Company: Boomer Advertising, New Bern, NC

Duties: Throughout the internship I was involved in a broad array of tasks and responsibilities of a full service agency. I worked in concepting, creating and production of billboards, newspaper and magazine ads, signage, direct mailers, and press releases. It was also necessary for me to communicate with vendors and clients on a regular basis.

Most Memorable Experience: My favorite thing about this internship was the experience as a whole. At Boomer, I was not only given responsibilities and tasks of an intern but was also treated as a vital member of the staff. It was wonderful to work directly with the other members of the staff on projects and see things I worked on get published in prestigious mediums such as the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

Special Contribution: When I first started at Boomer I was given my very own client. Every week I created newspaper ads to be published in three local newspapers and updated specials on the client’s website.

Advice to Future Interns: Don't go into an internship underestimating yourself. You may be surprised at how much you really know and how much you can contribute. Also, don’t be afraid to go outside the comfort boundaries of the Midwest.
