September Internship SpotlightName: Juan Wah Duties: Assisted Writer Producers and Associate Producers with studio work. Assisted Promotional Planners and Production Coordinators in coordinating the bidding process with production and post-production companies, and assisted in scheduling on-air promotional time. Assisted the Sr. Marketing Manager and the Assistant Marketing Manager in the implementation of trade and consumer marketing campaigns in the Latin American region, and assisted in negotiating contracts with vendors. Most Memorable Experience: One night, Turner Broadcasting hosted a barbeque for its employees at the Georgia Aquarium. About 20 minutes after I arrived, I saw Phil Kent (CEO of Turner) walking around saying ‘hi’ to people. A few minutes later, I saw Mark Lazarus, President of Turner Entertainment Group and Jim Walton, President of CNN Worldwide. It was great because you could tell that they love their jobs and the people they work with. Contribution Made: Young blood. Even at Cartoon Network people take their jobs seriously, and can find their work to be repetitive. I believe that I brought some new ideas and fresh talent to the table. Advice to Future Interns: Don't wear a suit. Rookie mistake. I showed up the first day of my internship in a suit. After about ten minutes, I quickly realized that the dress code was very casual. |
