Michael Bugeja | Michael Bugeja, director of the Greenlee School of Journalism at Iowa State University, is author of Interpersonal Divide: The Search for Community in a Technological Age and Living Ethics Across Media Platforms, both published by Oxford University Press and both winners of the Clifford G. Christians Award for Research in Media Ethics. His work has been cited in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, Newsweek, The New Yorker, The Christian Science Monitor, and The International Herald Tribune, among others. Before entering academe, he was bureau manager for United Press International and also is a National Endowment for the Arts fellow (1990) with books of fiction and poetry and a Ph.D. in English from Oklahoma State University. |

Raluca Cozma | Raluca Cozma (Ph.D, Journalism and Public Affairs, Louisiana State University) joined Iowa State in 2009 and conducts research on foreign correspondence, political communication, and social media. Her work has been published in venues such as The International Journal of Press/Politics, The Newspaper Research Journal, the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media, and Journalism Studies. She teaches undergraduate classes in electronic media and international communication and graduate seminars in political and international communication. She is the faculty adviser of ISUtv and has professional experience in electronic media in her native country of Romania as well as in the United States. |

Daniela Dimitrova | Dimitrova’s research interests focus on how the news media portray conflict events such as wars, executions and terrorist attacks. She has conducted a wide range of cross-cultural journalism studies and has developed a predictive model of how the media frame politics. Her more recent work focuses on the impact of social media on political knowledge and civic engagement. As an expert in the areas of media framing and international political communication, she has published refereed research articles in top journals including Communication Research, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, The Harvard International Journal of Press/ Politics, and The International Communication Gazette. |

Jay Newell | Jay Newell has been on the Greenlee School faculty since 2003. His primary research area is media saturation—the extent to which individuals are exposed to media, and the adaptations that organizations and corporation make to a media-saturated marketplace. His research has been published in the International Journal of Advertising, International Journal on Media Management, and Broadcasting & Electronic Media. His secondary research area is developing technology to enhance the educational experience, such as the problem-based assignment processor ThinkSpace and teaching tools in Chinese and English. |

Lulu Rodriguez | Lulu Rodriguez designs, implements, and evaluates the impact of communication campaigns related to agriculture, renewable energy, the environment, and food safety. Her research focuses on the communication of risks related to scientific and technological breakthroughs, investigating people’s basic mental models of hazard and their opinions about innovations. Her research agenda includes examining and testing approaches that have the potential to improve society’s ability to anticipate, diagnose, prioritize, and respond to issues that confront, and often confound, risk managers. Rodriguez also conducts research on the visual representations of science and risk issues.She holds a half-time appointment with the Seed Science-based Biosafety Institute for Genetically Modified Agricultural Products. |
