First Amendment Day serves as a celebration and a reminder of the five freedoms granted to us in the Constitution. These freedoms form the cornerstone of our democracy. The 14th annual celebration will be held on April 21, 2016.
The annual spring festival is organized by passionate journalism students and faculty within the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, Leo Mores Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and several other campus groups and community organizations.
The 2016 First Amendment Day celebration at Iowa State is made possible because of a generous donation from the Charles Koch Foundation.
Past celebrations were made possible because of generous donations from Lee Enterprises and the Liberty Tree Initiative, the First Amendment Center and the McCormick Foundation. Other major sponsors include the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, the ISU Committee on Lectures, the Leo Mores Student Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Iowa High School Press Association, Quill & Scroll, and the Iowa State Daily.
