Iowa State journalism graduates win Pulitzers

2000
Chris Adams (1988 B.A. in journalism and mass communication) was part of The Wall Street Journal staff that won a Pulitzer for national reporting for stories questioning U.S. defense spending and military deployment during the post-Cold War era.

1992
Tom Knudson (1980 B.A. in journalism and mass communication) won a Pulitzer for public service for “The Sierra in Peril,” reporting published in The Sacramento (Calif.) Bee that examined environmental threats and damage to the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California.

1985
Tom Knudson (1980 B.A. in journalism and mass communication) won a Pulitzer for national reporting for his series of articles in The Des Moines Register that examined the dangers of farming as an occupation.

Robert Bartley (1959 B.S. in journalism-science and technical) of The Wall Street Journal won a Pulitzer for editorial writing.

Lauren K. Soth (1932 B.S. in agriculture journalism) received a Pulitzer for editorial writing for the editorial in The (Des Moines) Register and Tribune inviting a farm delegation from the Soviet Union to visit Iowa, which led directly to the Russian farm visit to the U.S.
